New Project: Entry way || Hall de entrada

Hello perfects,

I know I said I would post this yesterday... but my days have been so crazy that I didn't have time to do it. When I arrived home, I was so tired that I just needed to go to bed. 

What matters is that today here we are showing you a part of a home we have designed this Summer. Today I will show you the entry way and the hall, and some details we have chosen for the kitchen decor.

For the entry way we have chosen yellow, a color that was also used in the kitchen and in the living room (which you may see in the future). As the hall is the area that connects to the master bedroom and the baby bedroom, we have chosen the color blue, one color in common with all of these rooms, although in totally different tones.  (I will show you the other rooms along the next week). Further, this apartment belongs to a couple who travels a lot and has already some items that made sense to use in the decoration, such as the painting, the Shiva and rugs. So, It it made it harder to find the right items to match with the existing ones. In the end, I believe that, together, we have made a great job. 

Despite all of this my favorite items are the furniture. I believe contrary to the majority of items, the pictures don't show how beautiful they are and how great the look - the beautiful photos were take by  Elisabete Covelinhas (check her website here), but as they aren't large, it makes it harder to get some angles. I really love them. What about you?

Eu sei que disse que iria publicar este post ontem... mas os meus dias têm sido tão loucos que eu não tive tempo para o fazer. Quando cheguei a casa estava tão cansada, que tinha mesmo de ir descansar.

O que importa é que hoje estou aqui para vos mostrar apenas uma parte de uma casa que decorei este Verão. O post de hoje mostra o hall de entrada e o hall dos quartos e alguns pormenores que escolhemos para a decoração da cozinha.

Para o hall de entrada a cor escolhido foi o amarelo, uma cor também usada na cozinha e na sala de estar (no futuro mostrarei). O hall dos quartos, estabelece a ligação entre a suite e o quarto do bebé, nós escolhemos a cor azul, pois, apesar de em tons bastante diferentes, é a cor comum a todos os quartos. (vou mostrá-los aqui no blog na próxima semana). Além disso, este apartamento pertence a um casal que viaja muito e que tinha alguns objetos como o quadro, a Shiva e os tapetes. Quando isto acontece, torna-se mais complicado encontrar objetos que combinam com os existentes. No final, acho que, em conjunto, fizemos um bom trabalho. 

Apesar de tudo isto, os meus elementos favoritos são as consolas. Ao contrário da maioria dos objetos, acho que nas fotos não conseguimos ver como estão lindos e como tem um aspecto magnífico (especialmente o ripado do segundo hall) - as fotos lindas foram tiradas pela Elisabete Covelinhas (ver site aqui), mas com os hall estreitos, não é fácil obter os ângulos que gostaríamos. De qualquer forma eu adoro-os. E vocês?

Decorar consolas || Accessorizing console table

Olá perfects,

Hoje falava com uma amiga cuja casa estou a ajudar a re-decorar e mostrei-lhe como movendo jarras de sítio, colocando uns livros com uma peça bonita por cima, um candeeiro giro se modifica e melhora uma consola ou um aparador. É só uma questão de se saber organizar as peças, como uma colecção. Os livros e os tabuleiros ajudam sempre imenso, porque as peças parecem organizadas. O design de interiores passa por isto mesmo, por ser capaz de criar harmonia e estilo, muitas vezes com peças já existentes. Candeeiros, jarras, quadros, espelhos,... são essenciais. Aqui ficam alguns exemplos de home-styling, com consolas bem decoradas e com muito estilo! :) Reparem que não é só a parte de cima da consola que está decorada, a parte de baixo também, com lindas banquetas, todas diferentes umas das outras. ;)

Today I was speaking with a friends who's home I am redecorating and showed her how moving some vases to a different place, adding books with a gorgeous piece on top, a gorgeous lamp we can change and improve the look of a console table. It is just a matter of organizing pieces, as a collection. The books and trays are really useful, because pieces look organized. Interior design is that, being able to create harmony and style, using pieces that we already have. Table lamps, paintings, mirrors,... are essential.  Here are some examples of home-styling, with well accessorized console tables and with a lot of style! :) Notice that console tables are also decorated bellow, with gorgeous bench, all of them different from each other. ;)

Espelhos grandes atrás de consolas || Full length mirrors behind console table

Olá perfects,

como estou em modo meio férias (quer dizer que as crianças estão de férias, por isso procuro dar-lhes o máximo de atenção possível, apesar de ainda estar por cá e com coisas por terminar), os meus posts têm o ritmo possível. Mas tenho andado a pensar numa solução que adoro, especialmente para o hall de entrada, que na maioria as casas portuguesas é bastante pequeno: um espelho tamanho XXL. Como os tais halls são pequenitos e, nem sempre, há mais paredes para encostar a consola tão gira e tão útil, porque não colocar o espelho atrás? Reflete os objetos e amplia o espaço que é o que se quer! Boa ideia ou não?

I am kind of in vacations time (my girls are at home, so I try to spend as much time as I can with them, but I am still at home and with projects to finish), so my posts have the possible rhythm. I have been thinking of a solution I love, specially for the entryway/ hallway, which in the majority of portuguese homes is quite small: XXL mirror (full length mirror). As those entryway are so small,  and in most cases you only have one wall to put the console table, so gorgeous and useful, why not placing the mirror behind it? It reflects the objects and makes the space look bigger, which is what we aim! Great idea, no?

 

Não neglicenciem o vosso hall de entrada. Lembrem-se que é a primeira coisa que vêem quando chegam a casa e se ele estiver triste as boas vindas não serão as desejadas. Por vezes, não é preciso gastar muito dinheiro para o melhorar. Podem colocar uma consola simples, que não fique absurdamente cara, e umas flores frescas ou um belo vaso com uma orquídea que dura imenso tempo. Sejam criativos e se querem começar a transformar a sua casa podem sempre começar pelo hall.

(há uns tempos fiz um exercício no qual sugeria poupar 1€/dia ou 2€/dia para renovar o hall - vejam aqui).

Do no neglect your entryway. Remember this is the first thing you see when you arrive home and if it looks sad the 'welcome' is not the one you should ask for. Sometimes we don't need to spend a lot of money to improve it. You can use a simple console table, which has not an absurd price, and some fresh flowers or a beautiful vase with an orchid that last a lot of time. Be creative and if your are thinking of transforming your home you can always start by for the entryway.

Consolas atrás dos Sofás || Console tables behind sofa

Não há nada mais desagradável do que ver as costas do sofá quando se entra numa divisão, pois não são especialmente bonitas. Se não têm outra forma de colocar o sofá a solução é simples: uma consola com uns objetos decorativos. Dá logo as boas vindas a quem entra na sala. Podem colocar jarras, candeeiros, livros, estatuetas e por baixo umas banquetas que sempre que necessário acrescentam o número de lugares sentados. Espero que as ideias que se seguem sirvam de inspiração para quem tem este problema.

It is really unpleasant when you get into a room and see the back of a sofa, they aren't the prettiest thing. If you cannot display the furniture differently, a solution is quite simple: a console table with some beautiful objects. It just welcomes who is entering the room. You can use vases, table lamps, books, art and behind the console table you can put banquettes, which will be useful when you need extra seats. I hope these images with inspire the one's who have this kind of problem.

 

Mas pode nem ser esse o caso. Por vezes, uma consola é simplesmente uma boa forma de decorar! :)

But sometimes this is not even the case. A console table can only be a great way to decorate! :)
